Would be cool to have one hidden in the fron of the car. It's VERY effective. I just got home from driving around town all day and I literally picked up a cop from at least 2 kilometres away. I was approaching a set of traffic lights when my V1 beeped a couple of times and the strength level was rather low, however it gradually grew in strength and I couldn't see anything in front of me. Knowing that my V1 wouldn't lie to me I kept my eyes glued to the hill in the distance while I sat at the traffic lights. As expected, a police car came over the brow of the hill (which was about a kilometre away) and caused my detector to go absolutely ballistic, and pulled up at the lights opposite me. Obviously I was stationary while he was moving towards me at about 50kph, so it would have picked him up anywhere from 2-5km, and this was OVER a hill and around a couple of corners. The same scenario happened to me later on in the day on the way back home, except this time it was on a long stretch of road and the radar picked up a cop car facing the same way as me (towards the traffic flow) parked on the side of the road. Would definitely recommend getting one. - Skorp wrote:

Had a near miss with a friends Saab w/ 350bhp. Full throttle on a good long road in the middle of the night.. 200kmt straight past a police car that was rigging up a speed trap! he stopped me, but only gave me a warning as he had no proof! Phew!
Normally, i never drive soo fast that i can loose my license, but it would be nice to have this device as safety! Good idea. Make sure you look at getting a Valentine One however. There are many brands of detectors on the market but in my own opinion the Valentine One is the kingpin of them all. The Beltronics STi is about on-par in terms of the range, but they don't have the patented arrow design like that V1 has, which is invaluable as it tells you exactly which direction the cop(s) are in. You also can't turn K band off on the STi, which can become very annoying around town with all of the automatic opening doors and security cameras (here in New Zealand the in-car police radars are all Ka band, with the speed camera vans parked on the side of the road being K band, so I only turn K band on when I'm doing a long journey). I don't often exceed the speed limit by much either, but it's so nice to be able to drive slightly over knowing that you'll be alerted to any police presence in the area. I'm in no way endorsing driving at high speeds on a public road, but for the sake of 10kph an hour over it's a lot better to have the V1 watching my back than having money come out of my back pocket

| I had wondered about doing that on my rolla back in the day. I've never even used the key locks on the IS300! I guess I could eliminate them. | |

Good idea. Should be exactly the same process on the IS300, just a shame there won't be any at the junkyard to go and practice on first, haha. That's one of the other main reasons why I decided to remove the locks, because I realised I hadn't used them in years! - MirrorEyes wrote:

Haha, good thing you're not a thief then! - SHEHROZE ARAIN wrote:

any plans on that I'm going to carry around a spare CR2025 button cell battery in my wallet with me, in the unlikely event that the remote battery did go flat. However, my remote gives me plenty of warning before the battery begins to die because it gradually becomes less and less responsive over time. It will never just die randomly with no warning (but even if it did there are so many stores here that sell that exact same battery so I'd just walk to the store and buy one, or use my spare remote if I was at home lol). Definitely won't be a problem

My experience is bad, atleast on old cars! I should probably mention that my alarm is fitted aftermarket and is of high quality, so it's not a dodgy 20-year old factory fitted alarm with the original keyless entry remote, lol. If worst came to worst I'll just go through the trunk - SHEHROZE ARAIN wrote:

BUT WERE ALL WAITING ON YOU FOR YOUR PIC WED LOVE SEE THE PERSON BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THIS ROLLA Thanks bro. By removing the lock it actually saves a bit of weight too, although that's negligible in my case because of the motorised driver's seat and air purifiers etc Haha, unfortunately the driver isn't anywhere near as good looking as the car so I'd probably tarnish this thread by posting a photo of myself

When I went to the one junkyard years ago, there weren't even any Corollas!! I'd have to buy rear handles off the net. - Kiwi-Corolla wrote:

I'm not sure what you are talking about! At least from that photo, I think you are very good looking! (no homo lol)

Hey Orin, yeah it's been ages! Thanks bro. Glad you like what I've done since you last saw my car . Great to hear that you're planning on buying a radar after reading what I said about them. A truly invaluable piece of equipment to have. Here's a photo that I took today:
