Hi guys, new here on this forum so I said I'd throw up a few pics of my new car.
Ever since I sold my old GTZ I've wanted to get back into an AE100 series corolla. I just love this era of Toyotas! I was half tempted to buy my old GTZ back and almost did a couple of times but I was strongly advised against it. I sold it for a reason and I knew that if I got it back I was never going to be happy with it.
Here's the old GTZ as it sits now, most of the parts now scattered around the country
It would make a great project for someone as the shell is a very good with little to no rust.
Anyway, moving on. I'm in my final year of college at the moment and to say I'm broke is an understatement. While I have had no money the Starlet has now come to rest in the front garden. It hasn't moved since January. It will just take too much time and most importantly money to get it back to a state that is acceptable to me. It has been left in a barn and will come back out for a full resto when I get back into full time employment.
As I said, I've always wanted to get back into an AE100 series corolla. I've always loved the saloons, infact, I was always looking at pics of them online even when I had the GTZ. After a long talk with TBK last week and how cool it would be to build an AE101 Saloon Corolla I went on the hunt. I solely blame it on you (rrfl:
A few text messages sent around and I ran into this great example. In fact, I bought it off the guy who broke my old GTZ.
It's a 1995, 1.5 auto, Jap Corolla Saloon with only 49k KMs on the clock! I would believe it as the car is very tight, not a knock or bang out of it and the engine is so quiet even on tick over. The interior is absolutely immaculate as well. While the inside and the engine is perfect, the body, not so much. It's had a knock at some stage on the drivers side wing and there was a very poor repair job carried out on it. There is no structural damage so I'm not too bothered. The boot lid seems to have no lacquer left on it whatsoever.
It's completely original and has a nice few optional extras on it too.
Enough shitting on. Few pics after Elite AutoClean treatment.
Now, I know it's not much too look at but it is a very good car. I'm absolutely delighted with it.
I'd like to thank Kearney for bringing me down to see it on Saturday bt:)
Future Plans:Manual Conversion
3sge/ 20v BT conversion - Still undecided on this
DC2 front splitter
BZ Touring Side Skirts
BMW lip spoiler for the boot or a roof spoiler
Levin rear disc conversion
Twin Pot brakes
Black USDM headlights
Some type of old Japanese wheels
I'm going to service it in the next few weeks and put it through the test. It's only done 500km since it's last test a year ago so it should fly it.
This will be a slow and steady progression. Don't be expecting anything drastic to be happening in a few weeks.
I'm going to focus on aesthetics, handling and then the engine conversion.
The end goal is to have a nice car that is no slouch to move.
As always, opinions welcome bt:)
