wow we have the same car and same engine swap including the original engine though I went to 4e turbo first then now on this 2zz.
The sound is normal, it's the same sound I've experienced when I got no exhaust for 1 month
by the way did you ever got your a/c amplifier working?

Nice swap man, was there much involved, did you get your speedo working?
the speedometer should work as it is since it still has a sensor on the transmission.

on a scale of 1-10, 10 being a lot of work, this was a 7. setting up the engine mounts was easier than expected and setting up the exhaust lines and setting up the stock gear wires from my 5 speed gear lever to work with a 7 speed, there wasn't much too complicated.
and about the speedo, yeah just plugged in the old wire to the tranny and it fits!. the speedo might be off 5-10 kmh because the speed sensor from the celica transmission was designed for slightly bigger diameter tires than the AE101 standard tires.
just have to set up the RPM to correct resistance from the speedo and it should be great

I had thought of going turbo but i think as a daily driver a turbo isnt just that reliable and practical enough so went with NA 2ZZ as it has decent power and torque and no turbo lag haha. and i admire your patience of running with that sound for a month with no exhaust! When i first heard the engine like this i left everything to work on the exhaust first so testing the engine would be less agony
And sorry man I havent yet started working on the AC because my compressor that was with the engine is bad, tried two other compressors but no luck, so haven't really started working on the AC. I will be sure to update this thread once i find a good compressor and start the AC. shouldn't be much work tho

yeah man all my neighbors are giving me the stare every time I start the car. great will be waiting for your update, I'm not sure if the tach voltage I'm sending to the a/c amplifier is too low for it to engage automatically for now just used a manual thermostat.
what axle did you use here?

Using a manual thermostat isn't a bad idea you know, just keep it in the middle and it will be good bothh for thhe compressor and the engine, and as for the amplifier, Did you try to get the AC amplifier from the celica or the xrs (the car from which the engine came from) ? Because most likely the stock ae101 ac amp might not be fully compatible with all this. I may be wrong but its worth a shot. And I used my stock axles, was about to get the new one but before that just shortened my old axles and re threaded them. They're holding up well up till now tho

And at long last started the build.
The Engine is a 2ZZ-GE 1.8L Toyota engine from an 05 Celica with a 6 forward LSD gearbox. Started the build Tuesday 28 Feb 2017
What a wonderful engine and setup. From where you got this engine and for how much?

AND THE 192BHP beast goes in !
Celica 2005 never came with 192 hp. The most powerful version of these engines came in JDM fielder 2003-2004 model, all later models have less hp than 192.
