| Hands are currently covered in grease lol... I am in the process of removing the AC fan. but the bolts are NOT simply unscrewing. Instead they are just spinning and I cant seem to fit a socket on the other side of the bolt. I used some penetrating oil but its only had maybe 10 mins to soak. I dont want to cut it off as I may want to reinstall it if I ever get money to recharge the AC. Looks like the fan is held in by just the 2 bolts and the 2 slides held in by plastic pop in screws. If I can just get these 2 stubborn bolts off, I can get the fan out and give it a cleaner look. Also trying to make room for an idea I have.... | |

| Problem is I need like curved pliers and can't find anything like that, I have snap ring pliers lol. That's my best hope lol. Thanks though, I tried feeling underneath to see if it was held by a nut or if it was a nut welded to the frame. It feels like its welded to the little frame rail holding the hood latch, but can't truly tell. I think it must be a nut on other side other wise it wouldn't spin.
Perhaps another beer will bring a solution lol EDIT: nope, another beer just lead to more beers, didn't even put the car back together lol. It will save me time in the morning and hopefully that oil will soak in more and I can get the fan off.

| Did you try simply pulling the bolt out once it was spinning freely? IDK, something is tickling my mind... but I can't remember what it is. from when I removed the fan. | |

| No, but I just tried that after reading your post. I ended up using my phone to take a picture of the other side of the bolt as I could not see what was holding it in. Turns out there is a VERY rusty nut on the other side. There is just enough room to fit a short socket over the nut.
The nut was all covered in rust and grime which is why I couldn't fit a socket over it last night. I managed to break the bolt free just now. ...but, only the top one. the bottom one has twice as much gunk on it.
I also discovered that one of the blades are broken on the fan and is slightly poking the rad. So looks like there is a point to all of this after all lol

| So, can you pull the bolts out just enough to cut the end off? | |

| I got one out just far enought to cut the end off, but the bottom one is too close to the rad to get a ratchet around it. but I could fit the socket in and then tried to hold it with pliers, but its so seized it just spins in the pliers. even tried putting tape around the socket for grip...didnt work lol. Plus after trying to take the top one out completely, it seems to be getting harder and harder to spin. The socket is now currently stuck on the nut and I cant get that off now lol. Heres a couple pics: Plus there seems to be a rubber washer in between the bolt and its making it even more difficult to loosen the bolt because it doesnt spin off strait, keeps warping and im almost scraping the rad with the ratchet. More penetrating oil? lol | |

| Got the top bolt cut out. and I was right, kind of; about the rubber washer/bushings.
But the bottom one is giving me such a hard time. Theres just no room to work, unless the bumper was off, but im not battling with taking that off lol. Im trying to find something to just cut the plastic bracket, but nothing fits lol. except my hack saw blade, but that is taking forever and I have to be careful not to go to far into the rad
edit: finally got that sucker out, with out too much damage. Had to use a multiple of tools, including non-automotive tools haha... Pics to come soon

| Heres the proper tools to use to remove your AC fan lol: I figured since the fan was broken, I might as well just hack it out. Gave me a chance to use my dremel extension too as it was the only cutting tool that would reach. I used that to cut the bottom bracket, but then I still couldn't slide the fan out because the top bracket was held against the hood latch bracket. So I used a pair of brush cutters to hack away until it would come out. Then of course, once I got the fan out, I had plenty room for 2 ratchets (well, the one against the rad was still tight). I was able to make maybe have a turn; then all a sudden the bolt head snapped off with out me having to cut it. It was a miracle lol: Then before putting everything back together, I just covered the plug with electrical tape and tucked it away. | |

| Hey guys. What about the pump? My A/C pump makes a terrible grinding sound. I live in New Zealand so A/C will be achieved by opening the wndows. | |
