sorry this is the 2nd gen 4afe a had the first on in my 1987 fx corolla they both look the same this is a 1st gen 4afe
it has small round spark plug leads the 2nd gen had square one and the top changed as you can tell. 1st gen was a jap market engine only as far as i know as it only comes in jap imports from 1986-1989 when the 2nd jen came out all over the world. and the 1st jen came out in injected and a carb its only a 1500cc but they go hard i don't get it.. haha, help me understand. as far as i know i have a 1st gen 4EFE.... - gold94corolla wrote:

it does.. only 7afe comes in with quite a punch when it comes to power.. not pretty sure about gas consumption though... how fast did you go with your corolla? - Ledge` wrote:

| Sometimes.. it's so hard to say goodbye to those things that has been with you for a long time.. Here she is.. this baby has served our family since 93'.. one more year and she'll go 20.. sometimes it's just hard to let go of those things that's been with you ever since you were a child.. Goodbye 2E engine. | |

| 4efe will be alot more fun compared to the 2e..
are you going to turbo it? the gen 1 4efe was 88bhp so will be alot quicker than the 2e

| really... 88 hp is a lot quicker than anything? How many HP does the 2e have?
Even with the 7afe, it was never "fast". At least I never thought so. I never drove anything slower than it, but it could keep up with most other cars. | |

| Remember 88bhp from a 1300cc engine is quite an achievement, as the 7afe came with 120bhp iirc | |

| 7 is faster than 4 and 5. I think 7a has like 120bhp, 5a has like 113ish, 4a has about 105-110bhp. | |

| 4AFE is a 1,600cc engine, 5AFE is a 1,500cc engine. 5AFE is lesser engine than the 4AFE in terms of performance by about 10 -15 horses. | |

| 2e engine is about 75-77hp give or take.. the main reason why i changed into a 4efe engine is because of the gas consumption.. my 2e engine was ranging from 7 - 9 km/L.. it's just uneconomical. my max speed with the engine is around 120 - 130.. it's a carburated engine. and to Ishaq, i wish i knew how i can turbo charge this.. i just dont. haha and yes 1st gen comes with more power than 2nd and 3rd... 2nd and 3rd gen was designed to save more gas. so thats more power and gas saving for the 1st gen for me.. power to weight ratio as well is a factor. | |
