| For sale I have a genuine JDM rear-mounted Air Purifier. Very very rare optional extra. Fits all 1993-1997 7th Gen Corolla sedans (American, European and Japanese) and is very easy to install as there are only two wires - Positive and negative. The purifier is activated by a switch which is located in the centre console, and has the ability to be set to 'Auto' (determines the purity of the air and adjusts the fan speed accordingly), 'LO' or 'HI'. The switch has a backlight too, so it illuminates when your headlights or park lights are turned on. Comes complete with the Air Purifier unit, grille, filter, switch and all necessary wiring. In absolutely excellent condition, with no scuffs, cracks, chips etc. $200 NZD ($165 USD, £104, €125) + shipping. Purify the air in your cabin today and impress your mates in the process! - SOLD.

Haha, a respray can be done any old time, but oppourtunities like this usually only come around once in a lifetime (like the time you bought the Air Fantasy off me ). I can confidently say that you'd have the only Corolla hatchback in existence with a backboard air purifier installed, lol . The fluted pieces on the top are detachable too, so you'd be able to make it sit more against the shelf

| My GF would kill me if I'd bought this before re-saving the money spent already I will however... at a time... have my purifier! (and my JDM HVAC) Maybe I should book a holiday I NZ and we can source a car with the JDM HVAC installed, I'd be more than happy to spend a few house disassembling and packing it just to send it abroad. And afterwards we could get a beer or two Back ontopic, how does the wiring work? I mean I can't imagine mine has preps for the purifier... what does it need? (just power or do we need more?) | |

| [quote="Kiwi-Corolla"] Very true. It was an expensive option to have back when the car was brand new, so they were rare even then, but even more so today. This one is in absolutely mint condition and has been very well looked after. A wonderful unit to have, not just because of it's functionality but also because of it's coolness yup its cool alright i replugged my air purifier after 5 year after sorting out its wiring its really cool and a good optional extra ive also added an air freshner in that so when ever it turns on is gives the car a fresh feel | |

| That sounds like a plan Scott! As for the purifier, I'm going to check if extra shifts are a possibility. Otherwise I'm going to have to wait for the next one | |

| Scott, was this also the addition for which the filters were still readily available? Or was that the cabinfilter (under de A/C) | |

| Thanks for the pic
More questions: 1.) How easy is it to install? Any welding or cutting involved? 2.) What sort of maintenance is required for the purifier? Is there something like a filter that I'd have to order for it?
Thanks! | |

Thanks! No problem . It is extremely easy to install. The holes for the screws are already in your rear deck, so you simply position the unit in place and put the screws in from the top (the brackets on each side of the purifier have threaded holes so you simply just screw them in). No cutting or welding involved whatsoever. The wiring runs along the side of the car (under the plastic trim) and branches off just before the rear seats so that the wiring for the switch can go under the centre console. The rest of the wiring (only two wires) runs towards the front of the car and stops by the accelerator pedal. Simply wire it to any switched power source and it'll work perfectly. There is no maintenance required other than replacing the filter when it gets dirty. The filter that comes with it still has a lot of life left in it though, but genuine Toyota replacement filters can still be purchased brand new

| Thanks for the explanation. But don't I have to cut this section? I can't wrap my head around how I'm gonna install it without cutting two square holes for the vents. | |

| Yes, sorry, forgot about the holes. On the underside of my rear deck there is a very faint outline where you're meant to cut. It was made this way by Toyota so that it was easy for the factory workers to install the air purifier when someone chose it as an option. I'm not sure if the USDM models are the same, but if not then you simply just draw square outlines on the underside of the deck and cut through it with a box cutter or hacksaw. Have a look at the bottom of yours and see if the outlines are there (you may have to push some of the sound deadening out of the way to see it). There should also be six faint plus (+) signs (one in each corner and two in the middle of where the holes would be). I hope that makes sense. It's really a very easy procedure to do, especially since the rear deck is so thin. The holes by no means have to be perfectly cut. In fact, even from the factory they weren't cut perfectly square, lol. Just as long as there are two holes for the air to pass in and out of then it will work fine Here's a couple of pics I took a while ago of a backboard which had the holes cut from factory: | |

| Sorry man, haven't had time to get on the computer lately. But yeah, I'm definitely interested. I figured this would do me and my passengers some good considering Cali is one of the most polluted states in the U.S. and most of my driving consists of crawling through traffic. lol Is it okay if I ask for a shipping quote to Sacramento CA here or should I PM you for that? I'd have to save up for it little by little everyday though, so it'll take me about a month to get enough free play money. | |

| Can you quote me on the shipping too? Still considering it (and then I can calculate what import would cost me and save up to the right amound) | |
