Hello all,
My name is Robin and I'm a Rollaholic.
I have followed some of the topics on here and I'm quite impressed, this is a very civilised forum, Also I'm quite impressed with the passion the members have for these unfairly underrated cars, I'm glad that these cars are being loved and respected and being put up on the pedestal like they should be.
I have owned a 1998 1300 E11 hatchback for around 4 years and have used it as a daily driver everyday since I purchased it and although I have always had faith in Toyotas and knew they were reliable cars, my experience with my bug eyed Toyo has concreted my faith even further. The time came for the purchase of a second family car and to me my next choice was a no brainer,it had to be another Toyo. I did not feel I should get a similar E11, so it had to be an older model Toyota Corolla. I toyed with the idea of getting a classic 70's car but the prices these days is out of my budget anyway, Iv'e always enjoyed the AE100 shape, it's robust nature and of course reliability so my search began for a sedan model. I finally came across one that looked quite attractive in that it already had some minor mods, so I was convinced this would be a good starting point for a slow rolling restoration project. My only issue right now is that the supply of parts for these cars is getting rare and the prices are getting quite steep and these days it's hard to come across them even in the breakers yards so I'd love to converge with some of the UK members and exchange some ideas and infor on were to source for parts.
My plans for this car is to make it a very clean attractive looking example with subtle body styling enhancements, it already has after market alloy wheels and rear tinted windows, a very clean but not over detailed engine bay and an original interior which is very clean and in good condition. I will post pictures as soon as I've taken some of the car, my first restoration task is concentrating on getting rid of the heavy tobacco smell in the car as the previous owner was a chain smoker.
Thanks for your time and I hope I will contribute in the conversations as I learn more about this lovely model.
