Subject: Question regarding tyres.. Sun Feb 02, 2014 2:28 am
Would 225/40/16 tyres fit on my 7x16 wheels or do I need to buy wider ones? I was planning on buying some 8x16 ET25 wheels, how would they look on a 30mm/1.2" lowered Corolla EE101 hatch?
Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated.

I have 205/50/16 on my 16x7 wheels on my car and they're already pretty meaty. You'd probably have to go to 16x8's if you wanted 225's on there. And what type of wheels were you looking at buying? The Corolla has uncanny ability to make a lot of wheels look good when lowered

I have 205/45/16s on my 7x16s and I'm thinking about the 3SDM 0.05 or Borbet A wheels.

Personally, on lowering springs I'd go with the Borbet's, but slammed I'd go with the 3SDM's regardless, I like your choice in wheels.

Thanks, my car is getting lower when it gets warmer, the total drop will be 55mm front and 45mm rear so I think the 3SDM's will look good on my car in silver, but I need to know if my car has space for 225 tyres.

Just saying, pulling your fenders with a heat gun, a jack and a phone book is not very hard there's plenty of tutorials on the internet machine. You could easily make some space with the proper camber and rolling/pulling.

That might work on the rear but on the front I plan on using fibreglass fenders

Change of plans, I'm not going for the Borbet's or 3SDM's just yet, I need to get the fenders pulled 25/30mm first so I'm going for a set of 7x16 ET40 wheels for about a year or so.

What is the oem offset for our cars? Just noticed my 205/45/16 rims n tires with 38 offset are "cupped" on the right side (the side that my strut collapsed but I never drove with my rims when it was collapsed). There is still about 90percent tread. Is +38 offset too much or was it just worn out suspension that cupped my tires? The left sides are fine.
I'm looking at trading for some Mugen rims and nankang tires 195/50/15 +10 offset. They look very nice and I want a 195 size tire (found 205's too noisy). But I think +10 offset is a bit aggresive. Any advice? Would these be a good fit?

Thank you. I think it must of been a combo of worn suspension, tires too wide, and the slope of the roads that cupped by passenger side tires.
38 offset doesn't seem much more than 40.

I would go for a more narrow tyre, but i also really like the stretch tyre look. I am having 195 tyres on my 7" wide wheels this season because i allready have the tyres, but next year ill try going with 165.
