| thanks , glad i found this club
im not 100% sure. i think it comes out of a n14 i got told. dunno it its true. im 17 just got my license. always been into cars since i was a kid. so im still learning about them myself cause got no one to teach me haha. lucky where i live i can drive turbo cars n what not. no restrictions
i got told a sr20det will drop straight in.
i looked online and i think the sr20det comes out with awd. im in need of fwd, but i seen that the trans of a sr20de(comes with fwd trans) fits a sr20det.
i'd want the sr20det. whatever the one is that fits.
if its the st20det 200sx your talking about that fits in then that must be the one the guy was refueling to that would fit in my corolla, dropping straight in.
if i have to re do the engine mounts then so be it.
i'd like to get a good knowledge base before doing anything. do you know what engines drop straight in with fwd trans if any ?

| welcome to the site
i have seen 1 sr20 ae101, unsure how hard it was to drop it in, the engine was out of an almera gti which was later turbo'd.
the 3sge / 3sgte is one of the easiest engines to drop into the ae101 for big power, i have done the swap using oem parts and iv been driving it for over 2 years..

| whats the mr2 E153 out of? i'll have to address mine, it's a bit worn on 3rd. gotta rev mach it very precisely when shifting 4th to 3rd. starting to get a 2nd to 3rd as well. not good for going quick.
bought it, found out it had near no fluid in it.

| Don't bother with the SR20 honestly, in no way will it "drop straight in" except for physically being able to fit in the engine bay - mounts/driveshafts etc will all have to be custom. Easiest option is to go for the 20V 4AGE from an AE101/111 (will be able to re-use engine mounts, driveshafts are easy, common conversion so all issues can be sorted well in advance), if your heart is set on a 2.0L then as Ishaq said the 3SGE/TE is the better bet. | |

| If you want to turbo and on a budget go down the 3sgte road as it is turbo and if you can find the gen 4 engine your looking at 280bhp stock. As Ishaq has mentioned all toyota parts are used in the swap so no custom work except the wiring of course. If you can deal with rewiring (big big headache) a 4age with Complete car looms is the way to go.

| do the 3sgte setup theres a lad here in ireland who done that and serious other modifications to the car and its throwing out 927bhp on a dyno he changed the floorpan to make it 4wd and everything but if your looking to keep in fwd you can still get serious power out of a 3sgte with supporting mods | |

| awd you mean? i might do a awd one day if i want more power. but ill stick to fwd for now. if i done a rwd set up it would be the sickest ae101 corolla. the 3sgte sounds good if it responds to mods | |
