Ignition slot problem

Just to raise this problem on my toyota corolla XE 97, I have to bring two keys with me because the original sometimes can´t turn into accessories for the engine to on. I have to try another key which is my duplicate key. Did you experience it the same as mine?

Keys wear out, for me, just getting a new key always made the locks work perfectly.

What did you do if two keys are worn out, because sometimes my duplicate key will do the same as my original key, I´m just changing the keys ´till it turn to accessories and start, is the key slot repairable or cleanable? Because i think the culprit is the slot.

Well that's the funny thing, somehow, even making a copy of the worn key makes a good key! It works fine. Maybe the copy isn't an EXACT copy, so it actually comes out like the original instead.

hmm, interesting topic. I have two keys, the one which I never use and the other I always use. It just happens the other day I was late for work so I shut my car off quickly (unlike my normal 3-2-1 process) and pulled the key out..and the car tried to restart. It didn't fire up though.

I reinserted the key and carefully tunred on the car and shut it off with no problems. Think it was just the way I quickly and violently shut off my car (which I never do).

i have 2 barrels and both have keys if you want them. £20 each both working fine Smile
