white pitting

anyone recommend a good chrome alloy cleaner?

Ive got some polish but it doesnt remove the pitting so I need something that is going to be a bit more harsh than a bucket and sponge. Does anyone know of a good one or anything I can do before I polish them?

TurtleWax and Meguiars make reaaaaally good wheel cleaners. Not sure how they'd do on chromes, shouldn't be any different I don't think. I just sprayed it on, then wiped down with a wet rag and then hand dried and they were clean as could be.

They have some acidic thing in them (so you gotta be careful you don't get it on yourself) but it takes almost all dirt and pitting off. Even took tar off the rims I bought for the Corolla.

buff the c--p out of them from a buffer and some good chrome polish it will shine like new

i can get turtle wax so i will try that first thx mirror

sheroz i tried that but it doesnt get rid of the pitting.

im gunna give them a real harsh clean later and see if I can stop the white crap coming back

Turtle wax is the lowest/cheapest brand around here, so it might not work the best.

ok well ill give it a shot then ill polish them and see what happens

Ok I got some cleaner and give them a wash and tried to get rid of the pitting again. Im still not happy as I need to get a better brush to get into the gaps.

The cleaner has done a good job but it loks like the wheels are going to need a refurb to get them looking spanking so now im in a debate as to wether i should or not.

Here is a close up of the inside of the wheels, I reckon this is what is causing the white pitting corrosion to keep coming back.

I am leaving them for the weekend to see if the pitting comes back if it doesnt then ill redo them with a better brush and more detail. I really like the wheels but I wont have them on the car till im happy

Lookin a bit better. Hm... I've never had this issue so I wouldn't know how to go about fixing it haha. Hopefully the pitting doesn't come back.

I know, ive never come across it either :S only time will tell i guess. If it does come back then ill have to go down the refurb route so it no biggy it will just delay the procedure

Cant rush it m8 theres no point me putting them on if they gunna look pants a few days later lol

im dying to see them on the car too lol :p the tyres should arrive this weekend so im gunna be busting to put them on but i gotta be patient lol

Well you do have to wait for tires after all... so you do have some time!

my m8s found me some tyres and they will be here this weekend im working till monday morning. so my plan is to see what the wheel looks like when i get home on monday morning and if the pitting hasnt come back then ill see about getting them fitted this week with a bit of luck

if the pitting has come back then its going to be a case of either getting them refurbed if I can for a decent price or sell them on

Hopefully they do still look good, would love to see them on your car

i know i couldnt agree more, I choose them cause I like them and love the style and think they will look good but i am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to wheels and it will wind me up something chronic if it just keeps coming back. will have to wait and see but i will ofc update you on monday when i get bk from work
