Oil advice & recommendations from oilman @ Opie Oils

AE101 Owners Club has invited us to start an "oil recommendations" thread here... so if you would like any oil advice or a recommendation for your car please feel free to ask here and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

To help us to give the most accurate advice possible we do need some information about your car. e.g.
Make:
Model:
Year:
Engine type:
Performance modifications:
Driving style: (road / off-road / track etc)
Any other information that may be relevant: e.g. approx BHP if modified, oil temps if known
What recommendation are you looking for? Engine, Gearbox, Diff etc.

Any oil we recommend is available to buy from us (if you would like to) for delivery throughout the UK and many destinations in Europe. We stock oils & lubricants from 9 major oil brands: Amsoil, Castrol, Fuchs, Gulf, Millers, Mobil, Motul, Redline and Silkolene, so we can supply fluids meeting the vast majority of manufacturer and international specifications.

- what type of oil should i use, i live in Melbourne Australia
- how much oil per oil change?

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS NT/CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Shell Helix, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

As a budget choice, a 10w-40 will be fine and I would either go for the Fuchs XTR, Shell Helix, Millers XSS or Motul 6100

I don't know what oils you have available to you, but a mineral 10w-40 is ideal for the running in period, then after 500-1000 miles, go for a 10w-40 synthetic.

I've been looking at 10w 30 but not certain?

As long as it's not burning too much oil, you can use a 10w-30. A 5w-30 would give better cold start protection though and if it does burn oil, go for a 5w-40 or 10w-40.
