| SO... I've got me a set of AE101 IRTB's Silvertop. I need to find some used velocity stacks to try and save a little money. Anodized silver and about 70mm in height is preferred. (Like some Jubirides you know?) I'll consider anything else you have.
ALSO. If you happen to have an ITG sausage filter layin around I'd want to buy that too.
I guess I should also note that I'm in California, US.
Thanks. -Aaron

| Hey Aaron, Silvertop or Blacktop? There's a difference in the diameter and location of the bolt holes. | |

| You could buy them brand new from Techno Toy Tuning, but they only make one length, which is really only made for top end power. After experimenting with various trumpets lengths myself lately I found that 110mm was the best all round to go with, however mine's a Blacktop so I can run them open with no problem, whereas on the Silvertop you'll need aftermarket engine management to run them openly as you'll no longer have the AFM. That restricts your size options A LOT. You could fit from 30mm-60mm inside the standard plenum, but the shorter you go the more power you lose down low. I can get any length you want made up here brand new, but you probably won't end up saving much money. | |

| Or you can run a Black Top loom and ECU to drop the AFM | |

| Can you directly swap to a blacktop ecu and loom? Plug and play? I was looking at running trumpets but didnt realise you couldnt on the silvertop. | |

| Well. Truth is. I don't actually have a Corolla. Nor do I actually have the engine. So anything about blacktop what not does not apply, and I'm already running an MS2 PnP.
I've already looked at TechnoToy's stacks and that length is way too short. unless I found venturis or something. I was thinking like a minimum of 70mm. The Miata 1.6 really only works from 3.5-6k RPM anyways.
Lemme know what I would be looking at. I don't have many option outside of importing them anyways.

| Well now that opens your options right up . 70's would still be too short in my opinion, especially if your rev limit is only 6,000rpm. I'd recommend getting the longest ones that you can possibly fit before hitting the strut tower etc. You'll have a heap more power down low, rather than your powerband just coming in as you have to change gear. The metal spinner I go to can custom make any size you like, so if you're after a specific size just let me know | |

| Guys that have fitted velocity stacks, have you had your engines tuned afterwards? I'd love to see some before and after dyno runs.
I had a set of 110mm stacks on my blacktop for awhile, biggest difference I noticed was the noise factor. Was cool for a while, after about 6 months I changed it back to factory, kept it that way since. As for power, meh, I doubt it made much difference at all. I think it could potentially change the power curve but doubt if they increase power.

I think it could potentially change the power curve but doubt if they increase power. I haven't had mine tuned since fitting them, aside from resetting the ECU afterwards by pulling the EFI fuse for 10-seconds (all you can really do without aftermarket management). I'm surprised you didn't notice much difference with the trumpets aside from the noise. Interestingly, if the standard Blacktop rubber trumpets were straight they'd be 110mm long, but they're curved to fit inside the factory plenum and to reduce intake roar, which unfortunately means the flow is affected and they don't have a proper bellmouth. After experimenting with the stock trumpets inside the plenum, no trumpets inside the plenum, 60mm trumpets and 110mm trumpets open, the 110mm ones were the best by far. They have been proven to increase the power when testing on a dyno, but their main purpose is to shift the torque and powerband. My engine is so much more fun to drive to drive with the 110's, so I can't see myself changing back to stock ever again

I sent an email asking about custom sizes. Longest he sells on Ebay is 75mm. Waiting for a reply still. It all comes to 165 dollars shipped for me, so I'd be pretty happy about that. I'm going to do some measuring and see what I can fit. I think on the miata its more of a problem with hitting the hood than it is the strut tower. The tower is pretty damn far away. I like this Kiwi-Corolla guy. Knows what he's talking about. On my Miata 1.6 however I'm going to notice a significant increase in.... everything. Power, torque, throttle response. It wasn't cool enough to get ITB's from the factory. (Actually a Japanese market special edition did but..... Because U.S.A EPA)
