Tail Light Wiring Pictures and Diagram

Thought Id share some pics. Im trying to figure out which wire is which.







It doesn't help that my wires have been spliced with my extra lights for my aftermarket trunk garnish (and I didn't splice them). but I guess it kind of does because I know they are tapped into the running lights. Looks like the green and white wire and the white and black wire are the running lights, but it also looks like there are 2 green and white wires and 2 white and black wires lol. Ill take some more detailed pics tomorrow when there is more sunlight.

Does anybody know the taillight wiring diagram (which wire is which) and if the other sides wires are the same colour?

White with black striping is always negative

As for the rest, not sure atm, will check if I can find some sort of diagram

IIRC, the red wire is the reverse lights..... the green&yellow wire is the turn signals (one for each side), and the green&white is the brake. But I forget!

Wait what are you trying to do / figure out?

Im not even sure anymore lol. Im just trying to understand which wire is which. I learned a lot today, kind of. I thought that because there were 8 wires in that harness, and because my taillights hold 4 bulbs; that 4 of the wires would be positive and 4 would be negative. ..but I followed the wires a bit deeper and learned that they also spit off into the trunk latch, license plate lights, and there are 2 ground wires just under the trunk latch. Plus some wires are thicker than others.

I decided I am in no rush to do anything with the extra aftermarket lights I have wired in, I might just wire them back up and put them in my sub box or something.

Though I am still interested in learning which wire is for what. Just out of curiosity. I took lots of pics and will post them later.

You said there were 8 wires?

2 grounds
2 signals
1 reverse
1 brake
1 parking light
1 plate light

???

Heres the taillight wiring plugs



Then the wire tubing continues along through the trunk past the latch and to the other taillight. There is a wire that comes out to the trunk latch, a wire comes out for a ground, and there is wire coming out for the plate lights.

Yeah you can see the two wires are grounded right there on that bolt.

OK, your picture of the tail light plug itself is most helpful.



Starting from the left...
White=ground
green=turn signal
red= reverse
and the other two green wires are the parking and brake (I forget which is which).

That is just for the wires connecting the taillight plug to the wire harness plug. Each of the taillight plugs 5 wires are spliced and duplicated to give a total of 10 wires leading to the taillight assembly:

Well, there you have it. You can see which wires go to which bulbs! I hope I was right lol.
