| I use an old Fujifilm 12 mega pixel camera, would love to have a proper photography camera, little out of my budget though. | |

| @ Bridgy, the Iphone takes amazing pics for a phone. Nikon D5100 - $600 manufacture refurbished Nikkor 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 VR DX - Came with camera Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 -$179 manufacture refurbished Nikkor 55-200 f/4-5.6 VR DX -$140 manufacture refurbished I'm thinking about selling the D5100 and buying the D5200. Sooo if anyone is interested... Or maybe I'll just wait and save up for a full frame camera. Either way, I'm pretty happy with my set-up. Only thing I regret is getting the 55-200 and not the 55-300. | |

| From what I've read, you'd be wasting your money going from a D5100 to a D5200. Sure, it's better, but only in increments (and you won't necessarily get much re-sale from a second-hand refurbished 5100. Better off either going to full-frame (although you'll lose all the lenses you have currently) or wait and see what the D7100 (just announced) has (that way you can keep any DX stuff you have currently) Although if you do want to offload that 35mm cheap.... | |

| lol sorry man, I'm in love with my 35. You're probably right. The small improvements probably wouldn't justify the price difference. lol I just love the D5100 and to hear that the D5200 is better in every aspect is very tempting. My dream full frame camera would have to be the Nikon D800, which is only ~$3000. lol! But I would really miss the 5100's rotational flip screen though. It has to be one of the most convenient features any camera could ever have. Sorry, Yankee, if I'm getting a bit off subject. | |

| Yeah, it sucks that the D7100 didn't inherit the 5100's flip screen, but I guess that Nikon is going down the path that flip-screens are for "consumer-level" DSLRs (you know, for selfies and people who use live-view/video a lot) whereas the "prosumer" and "professional" cameras need the space taken up by the hinge for extra dedicated buttons (which I do miss occasionally, like white balance and especially ISO and release mode) | |

| My 18-200 arrived yesterday, second-hand and only the I version (not II) so doesn't have the zoom lock, but at $400 I can hardly complain No photos yet, but since it is basically just replacing my 2 kit zooms it isn't anything special, just for convenience | |

| Nice man. I have an eye out for the 18-300 but my goodness... $900 is hard to swallow. But not having to swap out lens every time for a certain shot would be amazing. | |

| I would have liked the extra reach of the 300, but it's bigger (the 18-200 only just fits in my bag fitted to the body), heavier and much more expensive (18-200s have been out for a while so much easier to find a cheaper second-hand one).
18-300s go for about $1300 new here too (18-200s are about $900-$1000), damn Australia and our strong economy...
Next on the list is an UWA, either 10/12-24 Nikkor or 11-16 Tokina II, and a flash, and I should be done for the next few years.

| The only new photo equipment I have bought lately is a second hand Sony A300 camera and a new Caselogic bag. | |

| Well, I'm basically back to square one - camera bag, body+batteries+SD, 18-200 and 50 1.8 got stolen last weekend...
Most likely going to stay Nikon as I've gotten used to the menu system, and they feel better in my hands than Canon (plus I've got the two kit lenses still stashed away), but probably going to move up from the D5100 to the D7x00, no point going FX but I want a better feature set (plus the in-body focus motor opens up my lens choices significantly)
As for lenses, I'm not sure if I'll go back to an 18-200, the convenience was awesome but the D5100 was starting to push it quality-wise, so thinking maybe of switching to a shorter semi-pro zoom instead (17-5x 2.8 or 16-85) and keep a tele handy for long shots.

| Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 DX and Think Tank Retrospective 7 are in the mail EDIT: And both have now arrived - basically at the same stage as I was before all my gear got stolen, albeit with the kit 18-55-200 zoom rather than the all-in-one 18-200, and the 35 1.8 instead of the 50 1.8, but it'll do in the meantime. GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) can be a big problem for me | |
