have no real plane to modify this car but ill put up this thread
to show what i have done so far with the old girl since i bought
it.. some know that im very precise with my cars and
everything niggly has to be done for me to be happy.........
only have some pictures of what ive actually done so ill explain
the things i have no pictures for...
MODS:
full apexi exhaust system
alloys
thats it, lol
--------------------
first things first, i gave her a good service... oil, oil filter, plugs,
aux belts, coolant, thermostat.. then i timed the engine
--------------------
i was loosing quiet a bit of oil and i knew it wasnt burning it so
i started getting to the bottom of it.. turns out it was the oil filter
housing gasket that was worn..... so took it out and cleaned the
housing and bought a genuine new gasket from toyota... i always
use a bit of high temp sealant with housings holding gaskets... just
to be sure
---------------------
next thing to do was to sort the rattling in the car, so i replaced all
4 drop links and anti roll bar bushings... i didnt go for corolla drop
links so went for aftermarket ones that ive used on corollas before
which are much stronger and thicker than oem ones........ no more
rattling
Drop Links
Anti Roll Bar Bushings
-----------------------
next on the cards was the speakers as the oem ones were well past
their time... had great fun trying to get the rear speakers out.... the
whole back of the car had to be stripped pretty much.. i also replaced
the front speakers...
-----------------------
the rear lights were taking in water the whole time after a wash or a
shower of rain but the drivers side also has a hole in it so the other
day i picked up really good set from "leary7" on here and threw them
on... i noticed that the original channels for the water run off was blocked
so i cleaned these areas and now ive no problems with water getting into the
lights...
------------------------
i suppose a car isnt your own until you give it a good clean so that was the
next thing to do
-------------------------
was having an idle issue since the i got the car so again i started to get
to the bottom of it and before i knew it id half the engine stripped.. took
out the air flow meter and gave it a good clean..... then i started stripping
the throttle body.... was very fiddly but i like fiddly things, lol.. i noticed that
most of the vacuum piping and hoses in the bay were either cracked or split
from just been old so i started replacing all the piping with piping from my glanza
breaker "thanks toyota".. the major problem was that the main pipe going to the idle
control valve was badly split and low and behold, after replacing this, my idle issue was
solved.. throttle bodies were dirty so cleaned them all out before putting them back on
the head........... i was also having a engine temp reading fault even after i replaced the
thermostat.. traced this back to a faulty spade connector on the temp gauge sensor... back
to the glanza breaker and low and behold, yet again it was the same type of sensor, "thank you
once again toyota"... while i seen this i decided to take out the other sensors and cleaned then with
a scotchpad.. no point having rusty sensors especially the likes of the CTS (coolant temp sensor)....
i live by keeping all these sensors clean... after all some do control the fueling of the engine............
------------------------
took out the cam shaft timing switch (VVT) and gave it a good clean..
weirdly enough i could feel the difference..

front lip if i can find a nice on
