Opinions on best degreaser for metal and plastic

Just wondering what everyone else uses for degreasing metal? and i just recently modified the thread for plastic degreaser too which I have less experience with.

My current suggestions and experience with metal degreasing consists of:

Varsol, acetone, TSP (trisodium phosphate), VHT Caliper cleaner and thats all I have used. I find that acetone works the best.

Ive heard of many other products for degreasing but dont think ive tried any (besides the above)?

What does everyone else use?

I think I have used acetone to degrease plastic and it worked ok, but was a while ago and cant remember if i used it for sure or not

Simple Green and Gunk Engine Brite are what I use frequently. I don't really have a preference between the two, both work pretty well if you scrub em, or just let soak. Either way using a high pressure washer works best after. Acetone also works well.

I guess you are talking about engine cleaning? What Aaron said is the way to do it.

Well, engine degreasing too, but I was generally referring to just degreasing anything before you paint it (rims, body, bolts, plastic trim, engine parts, etc.)

I am finding the caliper cleaner working very well on my rims, it is cold and evaporates instantly so u have to work quick, but leaves NO residue.
