Haha. Across the road from my place is a large park and beach. It's hard to see the road separating the two in the photo. It would be nice if my front yard really was that large though, I'd turn it into a mini race track!

| So my brother got a new point-and-shoot camera, and this one does various HDR effects. So hopefully I'll be able to do some better pics in the future! (so Scott isn't the only one lol) Scott, this camera has the (limited) manual adjustments, but I couldn't get it to to the focusing thing. Do you have to be in macro or something? Far away and zoomed in or close up? | |

| When you're that far away it's very difficult to produce a blurry background, even when using a low aperture. The only way to truly do it would be to use the blur tool in post processing, but that's cheating . Next time try it out in macro mode and go a little closer. Also try taking a really close shot of the aerial in the extended position and see if it does it then. That way you should be able to get a rough idea of what distance it will work best at. Interesting shot by the way. Reminds me of when I first started doing HDR. Looks like the camera went crazy with the light smoothing settings, but it's good to see you starting to explore HDR photography | |

| Thanks. Actually I wasn't trying to do the blurry thing with that photo lol. I didn't keep any of those experiments. I figured that I was too far away! I'll try again later.
That picture is just showing the camera's craziest HDR setting lol. The camera does regular photo, regular HDR, and then "HDR art" in 3 levels of craziness. So I took 5 pics from every angle. This pic is the craziest of the 5 lol. It is mesmerizing for sure. But it is really hard to flip back and forth between the 5 pics, since once you see the crazier pics, it makes the more regular pics look like grayscale lol. It's gonna take some practice. I think that the lowest "artsy" setting is probably best.
Oh, and I did edit the photo so that it had even more contrast.... lol.

| Ohh, that makes sense. I was wondering why it looked so 'dramatic'. Ideally you need to shoot in RAW and process the photos yourself, but it's pretty cool that your brother's camera even has the ability to generate HDR photos by itself as most point-and-shoot cameras don't. Looking forward to seeing your future shots! | |

| yeah, when I snap a pic, the screen flashes really quick with 3 different shots, and then says "wait" as it processes them all together into one photo. It's very nice, doing the work for me lol. | |

| I really like the shot of the American flag. HDR really suits it. The composure and crop are excellent too. Nicely captured bro | |
