Oh nice Cool. I bleed them by using a one way valve with a piece of clear hose attached on each end, submerged in a clear bottle containing a small amount of brake fluid and then get a helper to pump the brake pedal while I open the line and bleed each corner one at a time, starting from the furthest wheel from the master cylinder. Technically I don't need a helper since I have a one way valve, but I like to watch the bubbles come out so I know the job is done properly Smile

[quote="Kiwi-Corolla"]Thanks man. Glad you like it. It has certainly kept me busy, that's for sure Very Happy

I completed my brake set-up today by installing some braided brake lines. They're made by a company in Australia called Safebrake and are a direct replacement for the factory rubber brake lines. I originally ordered a set of Goodridge braided lines from the US but when they arrived they were for the rear drum brake model, and unfortunately Goodridge don't cater to models outside of the US so there was no rear disc brake version available.

i have a set from race brake's that make bf braided brake lines to fit the ae101 rear disc's and thats with the tags for nzta on them (so not sert needed)Very Happy

Haha thanks bro. Too scared to work out what it's worth now geek laugh. Having it featured on Speed Hunters someday would be awesome, but I'd probably have to do some crazy engine swap first hehehe!

Ohh nice. Fortunately these ones don't require a cert either but I'm going to get them put on the cert plate at the same time as the other mods Cool

I added another item to my TRD collection this weekend by installing a TRD quick shifter. It was specifically designed to fit the AE101 series 5-speed Corollas and was discontinued quite a while ago, but thankfully I managed to get my hands on one last week.

The installation was relatively straight forward as it's a direct replacement for the factory shift lever, and I was finally able to use the OEM leather shift boot I've had sitting here for a while which came on the 6-speed models, as previously it would pop right out of the console every time I changed into 2nd, 4th or reverse as the factory throw was too long.

Gear changes are now much quicker due to the reduced throw and the actual feel of the shifter is a lot better. Previously it would "slop" into gear, but now you can actually feel the gears engage. Admittedly it takes a little bit more effort to change gears but in my opinion it makes shifting feel more satisfying. The actual height of the lever is about the same as stock and it compliments the TRD leather shift knob I've been rocking for a while Smile

So is that short-shifter for the Levins or for the FX/GTs? Last time I checked the Levin shifters were different to the 4/5-door ones, and that one looks different to mine anyway (but that could be a JDM-ADM difference).

Also, how much is the height shortened by? TRD short shifters tend to shorten both height and throw, but that doesn't look that much shorter in height

Just bought one of those shifter boots myself Razz my shifter has been custom-shortened both in height and throw so should work perfectly Very Happy

This one was out of an FX-GT, but there are two types listed on the TRD parts list for the AE101 (one with the fulcrum secured at 3-points and the other at 4-points). There's also another one for the Levin/Trueno models, which is different to the sedans, The FX-GT shifter is identical to the original shifter in my car so I got the seller to send me the whole shifter assembly with the TRD lever already installed, however one thing he forgot to send was the little nylon piece which fits to the bottom ball of the lever. This proved to be a HUGE headache as for some reason Toyota decided to make the ball slightly larger on the TRD lever, so when I tried to use my original nylon piece it was an extremely tight fit but wouldn't clip back into the shifter linkage. Fortunately the seller still had the TRD nylon piece there so was able to send me that part separately and everything finally fitted correctly.

The actual height of the shift lever doesn't appear to be any shorter, just the throw. I was quite glad about that though because it means I can still shift gears with my left forearm on the extended armrest if I want to, without having to pivot my arm on an awkward angle to clear it Smile

Thanks man. Ohh yeah I remember seeing photos of your setup a while ago. I had always thought the Celica had quite a short stroke from factory because when I drove my Dad's ST202 it felt really short.

A couple of small updates on the sedan - I fitted this a roof spoiler and a larger ducktail spoiler a couple of days ago. They're both quite subtle enhancements but seems to work well with the rest of the lip kit:

Spoilers look well, they finish the back end off nicely! What are your future plans for this? Seems like a pretty complete car to me as it is!

Thanks man. Future plans are to finally get around to installing my lightweight flywheel and heavy duty clutch, maybe chuck on some wheel spacers, find one or two more optional extras and that's honestly probably about it. Although it's never-ending, so don't be surprised if a dozen more things happen over time umm oops!

I suppose I should introduce my new daily I bought about a month ago too. I got sick of constantly worrying about leaving the sedan in parking lots in fear of someone denting it or trying to steal parts off it etc, so I bought this 1992 Corolla FX-GT (AE101) to use as a daily driver. I've always wanted to own one in this color so when I managed to get my hands on one for a really good price I was over the moon. The engine is a factory 4A-GE 20v Silvertop and when I bought it there were no mods done, except for some pretty boring looking aftermarket wheels. I was planning to keep it that way, but ended up giving into temptation and fitting some lowering springs, new wheels, a new Bluetooth head-unit (same model as in my sedan) and some optional tweeter pods. It looks and handles a bit better now, but I've told myself that's where the modding is going to stop as my focus has to remain on the white one Razz

Anyway, here's some pics of when I got it, after lowering and finally, after the new wheels were put on this week:

Just realised after looking at the engine-bay shots, the FX is auto? That's no fun Razz

Haha yeah, one of which is the insanely rare digital cluster. Thanks man Smile

Good spotting. Yep, the FX-GT is a damn auto, but that's all I need for a daily. Something I can cruise in, not be tempted to thrash or modify, not have to worry about clutch replacement and best of all, something the Mrs can drive when I really can't be bothered taking the wheel laugh

looks real nice scott. with all the parts you often come across i understand how its hard to kill the temptation. im the same way with my daily, 06 g35x, theres a plethora of parts available but i have to finish my sedan too so i often have to keep my priorities in order

I made sure to teach my missus how to drive a manual....buying a manual for her first car just reinforced the point too Razz

Family car is most likely to be auto though, only because the ones I want only come in auto (either JZX110 Blit or JZS171 Crown wagons)

Cheers dude. You're not wrong, I've already had to resist installing a couple of CleanAce's and key lights, haha. Sounds like you're in the exact same boat. Hang in there buddy laugh

Haha, she was already driving an auto when we got together and there was no way I was going to teach her how to drive stick in my white one Razz. It's nice to kick back in an auto for a change, but I must admit that there's a massive power difference compared to the manual. The auto gear ratios really hold it back.

Thanks guys. I got both spoilers from overseas. I ended up emailing the guy I got my smaller ducktail from years ago and crossed my fingers that I'd get a reply because they went out of business a while back, but fortunately he still had one of the larger type ducktails available so I grabbed it. So there's no website as such unfortunately.

I took the car for a quick 'shoot' today. Here's how a few of them came out:
