Time Attack Corolla EE111

I have been thinking about this for a long time , so I got the ball rolling September . So I got myself an ee111 corolla 1.3 saloon 1998 and then I picked up a 1998 celica st202 ssiii  3sge beams gen4 engine .
The plan is to use it for timeattack this year I have already missed rd1 but should have it ready and out for rd2 at modified in mondello on the 21/4/2013 .  









As you can see was a bit sad looking and hadn't gotten much love , well thats about to change

I removed the radio as I wont be needing it any more and fitted some 50mm gauges in its place . Oil and water temp and oil pressure , I used gauges with a smoked front as I had an idea im my head how I wanted it to look and also replaced the back lights in the clocks with led's to match .

You may have noticed that the whole inside has been gutted and removed to save weight and to keep the car clean and simple inside , if its needed its there and if its not needed its gone .





I was going to use a dash from a honda CBR1000rr fireblade but the rules would not allow and I couldn't bring my self to use honda parts in the build lol . You can now see the three center gauges without power .



Time for a wash to get some dirt/weight off ,

Thanks lads , I'm sick to death of only seeing Honda's out on track and I rather the look of a saloon over the hatch . For me it would be to easy and boring to use a Honda , I like to be different and have a ordinary looking car that doesn't stand out . I thought long and hard about this setup and on paper and in my head it will work  



The drive shaft is a mix and match of st202 inner shaft with an st182 outer shaft and the st202 outer cv joint .

And the next pics are the car on its steel wheels engine sat in and a set of jic magic shocks and springs fitted ,

I'm using the twin pot calipers of the st202 , with a little grinding they fit just nice . As for brake disks I'm using 1.4 d4d fronts as they are 255x I thinks 26mm vented with ebc yellow stuff pads and new genuine toyota pads in the rear .



The wheels in this pic are SSR type M , 6.5jx15" I didn't real want to use these as they are off my Pulsar GTIR .



I was away at the BAJA 1000 rally doing pit support in november and left the car in for a custom made roll cage while I was away .

Yea I think it was red line , great build thread . I know I,m sick of hondas so I'm building a honda killer , all that's holding me back at the minute is the final drive its to low 4.176 and I need a 4.933 fd which I'm getting made over the winter for next season .

I wanted the cage main hoop nice and far back as I have future plans to move the seat back about 8-10" inch's and fit a floor mounted pedal box . So I came into the garage over Christmas as we where closed and painted the cage and the inside of the car . I went with the same color as the outside as it doesn't make the cage stand out to much and be more of a sleeper

Haha I know if I put this car on the road as it sits now there are fook all stock or slight moded hondas will catch it   But out on track is another thing the hondas in my class are running highly tuned B18 type R with 4.7final drives and close gearing and running over 215-220bhp with 9k+ rpm red lines .

Im running a totally stock engine gearbox and ecu with a 7.300rpm red line and all built on a tiny budget and it made them open their eyes .













The ssr wheel look nice but the steel wheels would look better as a sleeper ,

interior looks sweet.

i know where you are coming from, street and track are completly different ball games.
admire all the work gone in to it.

i think the main thing is that most people mod a honda because they like to follow, not like us lot on here, We Lead!

The only exterior mods other than the wheels and coilovers is a small lip on the tail gate [pics to follow] is all I can use within the rules  

These wheels came up for sale and I had to have them Weeds sport 7jx15"





I then took the JIC magic coilovers out for something else



Then the fun began with all the wiring and I also got a set clocks from the 2001 corolla as it has an rpm gauge

those wheels do suit it alot better,

I also raised up the gear stick about 6.5" inch's so it just beside the wheel

Time to start making the exhaust system , its a 2.5"(65mm) from the down pipe to the rear with a straight through back box and it sounds sweet out on the track over all the honda's  

I used a spring joint over a flexi pipe as its much more compact than the flexi joint and it also gave me a point to split the system .
