| I thought I'd do a remembered version of my conversion. First I couldn't find a good priced Black Top so I hit trade me (NZ version of EBay) and came across a 1998 Toyota Carina GT, it had been deregistered with no chance of putting it back on the road. [url= ] [url= ] $1000 NZD for the car were as I was looking for just the long block for a $1000 from a wrecker So I bought it, finished work on a Friday flew down to Wellington then took the bus and hour back up north from Wellington. I had a good look at the car then thought "i got no way of getting home and the 8 hour drive would be a good test" 9pm rolled round, money was exchanged hands and I was off praying that I wouldn't see any 5 O on they way home (I only saw 1 and he only had eyes for a WRX STI ) 5am I was back in bed hehe.

| Once I had recovered from lack of sleep, I removed the 4afe and c52 gearbox from the corolla, and then the same with the 4age and c56 from the carina. Installing the heart was easy. 4afe - 4age same mounts one. The drive shafts I was a little worried about, as the c56 use equal lengh shafts where as the c52 doesn't, and because the carina is a slightly bigger car I didn't think the shafts from that would be ok - turns out they were mint they slotted right in.
Apologies for the lack of pics I simply didn't take any, Dumb ay! | |

| Theres nothing quite like the song of a 4age singing at the top of her lungs. So with the 4age in place and with everything machanicly hooked up bar the powersteering everything was looking good. Powersteering is different on the 4afe, so i bought the bottle and lines from a levin with a ST in it and the was all sorted and left me with 1 thing to do........... the wiring my head still hurts thinking about it. After months of trying to get my head around it all and 3 murders engine looms,( JDM wiring completely different to NZ new) found a new job so i lost the company car, fuel card and phone With notime left to get the car running I went to a wrecker and bought the complete wiring from a BZ-T wagon and swapped everything over in a day As you can see it was a fun day. Once it was all swapped over and evrything was working including the now factory fog lights with the switch on the stork by the steering wheel I still didn't have the car running after a week of more brain hurting moments I figured it out. I had a auto engine loom all I had to do was join to wires and BOOM a running engine. This was all done by me, not bad for a 1 armed guy ay I wish I could have written this while I was doing the conversion it would be a lot better. However here it is and if anyone need help Ill do my best to help out | |

| Yer it does. The 4age's don't really have any torqe as they're an all or nothing kinda engine. Once you hit 4000rpm its like a power band on a bike or VTEC they just come alive and pull | |
