| lol, sorry missed them lol
so basically the gearbox mount (avensis) fits straight on top of the box? and the gearbox mount (avensis) fits straght into the corolla mount holder/cradle on the chassis.
the cambelt mount (rav4) bolts onto the chassis, but sorry to sound dumb but what bit of the mount fits onto the engine? | |

| The Avensis (2ltr) gearbox mount fits onto the Corolla chassi and bolts onto the box. on the Avensis, there is a metal bracket (see page 3) that sits on top of the gearbox, and the mount bolts onto this. (go to a scrap yard and get the whole thing, bracket and mount) now i haven't attached these yet because the engine isn't in the engine bay yet, so il have to try a few things out. What i mean is, adding or taking away the bracket may add or subtract from the balance level of the engine. you'l have to try and see. but (page 3 again) you'l see i measured 3 bolt holes on the beams gearbox bracket and gearbox before i got the mount, and those three bolt holes are the ones that il be using. I don't think there is any difference between the beams gearbox and the GT4, i advice you check that out first. I got the info about the mounts from a thread by a guy on toyotaownersclub-irl.com that's done 3sge conversions before. here's what he said... "This covers models ae92,ae101,ae102,ae111etc For mounting a 3s-gte into the corollas above for fwd. For the mount on the timing belt side engine mount use a Rav4 3sge mount. For the gearbox side use a avensis 2.0L mount For the engine cradle forward mount use std corolla For the engine cradle rear mount re-drill and use a few washers. For the gear box use one from the mr2 turbo with st185 gt 4 gear selector linkage. Drives use levin or mk1 mr2 agze ones. I promise to if any body gets this far and has problems i will come to you and make it mount for free. I know no body asked but theres was one time it spend ages looking for this info." As for the RAV4, its straight bolt. look at the timing belt side of the celica engine. there are 2 holes for bolts and the third hole fits over the bolt already attached onto the engine. then there are two holes for bolts that bolt to the corolla chassi. you will have to get a piece welded on to secure it properly to the third bolting hole because your corolla mount bolts on 3 ways. two that i've just mentioned and the 3rd one, closer to the side of the car. what im going to do is cut off the metal from the corolla mount that bolts onto the chassi to the outside of the mount, and weld it to the rav4 mount, because the 3rd rav four metal piece is too short!! you'l know what i mean when you compare the rav4 mount with the corolla one! i recommend you do shit loads of research dude, just so you will understand it better. make sure all this works for the gt4 too, i'm sure it will as the block is the same, and i'm pretty sure the gearbox is too. i got some spares from a gt4 gearbox that work on the beams one. good luck | |

| page 3 again dude! (bottom of the page), all labeled and side by side. have a look through the whole thread. most of what you want to know is done here. im just waiting for a crane to fit the engine and put everything together and then do the wiring and thats it! Those photos are before i put the cv joints on, but you can see the difference in length between the st202, 182 and corolla shafts | |

| I have some for the BEAMS. dunno if its the same for the GT4 tho. all i have are the in/out points for the ecu. im sure you can get the gt4 wiring diagrams a lot easier than the beams tho. You should join this site http://celicaireland.com/forum/index.php this is where i got a lot of info from. just start a project thread and ask for info, they helped me a lot with my project | |

| Oh right, thought it was a gt4. Why dont you just go ahead with a 3sgte conversion? youl be doing as much work anyhow, but youl need to reverse the gearbox linkages! | |

| While im still waiting for cash to flow, i did a small bit of work on the engine today. Had intended to cut the drop links off the car also but its been raining all day so... Bought an angle grinder and cut a small piece off the water pipe. It was rusty and worn and needed to be tidied up a bit Took about half an inch from the worn end off! You can see here how badly the rusted end is! it would eventually eat into the rubber hose that fits over it! Off with its head Then i ground down the rough, sharp edges to ensure it wouldn't eat into the rubber pipe, and to also have an excuse to play with my new grinder!! Nice and smooth! Here is the piece i cut off. You can see how corroded it is! Next i grinded (<- is that even a word!!?) some metal off the alternator bracket. For some reason, and even tho the alternator and bracket are both beams, the alternator wouldn't fit into the bracket properly. There is a round metal piece that looks like it is protruding out just a little too much on the inside of the bracket, (i have a spare one and i compared the two) so thats probably the reason! So, i ground the sh*t out of it!! Round metal piece. Took a few mil's off here. Fits perfectly now!! I tightened everything up and put the belts back on. Looks like something that might actually run now haha. I'm well pleased with the drive belt i found thats small enough to drive just the alternator and tensioner pully (im not using the AC motor. I was going to mess around and put the PS pump there but, it would have been dodgy with measurements and alignments etc...) so now i have one belt to drive one PS pump and one belt to drive one alternator, with less weight on the engine, and more horse poser without the AC. Simple! I then walked around the house looking for other stuff i could cut!! Thats it for today. I still have to be patient until i get cash and an engine crane before i start putting this jigsaw together, but the write up and pics will be worth the wait! More later :thum: | |
