sorry about the repeat question. regards Hey, I’m not an expert, but here is what I have 94 AE101 FX GT 17x7 with 205/40/17 tyres, with rolled rear guards. I tried a set of 18x7.5 with 215/35/18 tyres but they rubbed on the rear shock even with a 5mm spacer. I think to go bigger than 17x7 you need panel and mechanical modifications. Maybe one day if I have the cash I would love to go to 17x9, with bolt on flared guards...

| Thanks buddy do you reckon a gallon would make any difference? as my one is a saloon 4 door. Did the tyre rub with the shocks or was it the actual alloys? cheers | |

cheers Hey, Not sure what you mean by gallon? I'm not certian, but I would imagine that the four door has very similar measurements to the hatch. My 18's , the rims touched the shock, althouth with coilovers you might get more clearence, and with 5mm spacers the wheel nuts only had 4 1/2 turns which is not safe, here in NZ you must have 7 turns of the wheel nut to be legal. =D

It all looked sweet, until I drove off for a test, I drove about 1 inch and knew that the grinding sound was bad, took the wheels off, and the shock had a minor scratch, and a matching scratch in the rim, not bad, but un drive-able. Hope that helps =)
