| Started this thread on TOI, so here it is up to now Finally got the engine off the trailer and into the house! Engine prep first. took the old intake that was on it (modified for a twin cam Corolla) and changed the rubber risers for cleaner and newer ones! cleaned all the dirt off!! Then stuck the exhaust manifold and alternator on just to see how it looks Didn't do much today as it was late. More tomorrow Checked timing also!! Some conversion updates Some more work done with the engine. Changed a few older parts on the engine for newer cleaner parts. Bits of the engine loom, alternator bracket, fitted the fly wheel just to see, and put newer tensioner pulley and bracket on. Took out the old ignition coils and found some water )rain water from being left out) in cylinder 2 and 3. Changed the ignition coils for newer ones, drained out the water with a turkey baster (best tool ever for sucking water out of things) spark plugs 1,2,3 and 4. Took the rocker cover off… ...and turned the main engine pulley with a 19 socket wrench to see if any water was in the pistons. Cylinder 1 had a tiny amount that seeped in. Agin sucked it out with the baster!! (great tool cranked it a few more times, all good. cleaned out the cylinders from dirt and grease bought engine degreaser to day, will clean whole engine and respray manifold, rocker cover etc… with high temp spray paint (black and red of course Cleaned up some parts today, Rocker cover, injectors, ac pipes etc... LOTS OF SANDING AND PAINT (the rocker cover took frig'n ages it was so manc!!) Sanded! Degreaser (both sides) covered holes! First coat! Ready for action!! Sanded and sprayed exhaust manifold guard then paint Injectors looking well!! More tomorrow More engine prep work today... Painted block with high temp black. cleaned alternator bracket with degreaser and sprayed red Put some parts back on engine, alternator bracket, tensioner pully ect. Will paint the exhaust manifold too as soon as i get the bolts of the down pipe (one in photo is rusted to shit, have another one in better condition) Starting to come together More tomorrow | |

| Thanks man, the standard st202 beams gearbox (gt4 i think) that ges with this engine. trying to keep as much up front celica as i can. want to hold onto the 4 stud hubs tho, cause i forked out for new wheels and they are mint! so will have to make hybrid shafts (driver side st202 shaft with corolla cv outer joint if possible, and st182 or 162 shaft passenger side also with corolla cv outer joint). Ya will be lots of fun getting her in, its a tight fit, but according to alanv on TOC, i can use a rav4 3sge mount for timing belt side, avensis 2.0ltr mount for gearbox side, front standard corolla mount and rear mount redrilled with a few washers. he promises it will work "and if it doesn't il personally come and fit it myself"!! so fingers crossed | |
